Welcome to our 1st Blogiversary

An Evening at Almacks turns 1 year old today! One year of posting reviews and articles about traditional regencies. As we mentioned in the beginning we started this blog to talk about one of our favourite genres, although it's not one of the most fashionable trends in todays literature the traditional regencies had once a big following and we are glad that we managed to chat about them with our visitors. To celebrate this one year of blogging we would like to give away a few of our spare copies. Please note that these are all second hand books, so no pristine copies, but we hope they'll find a nice home and will be appreciated. Without further ado the books we have to give away are:

Nadine Miller - The Barbarian Earl
April Kihlstrom - Miss Timble's Folly
Alison Lane - The Notorious Widow
Diane Farr - Once upon a Christmas
Katherine Kingsley - A Natural Attachment
Vanessa Gray - The Lost Legacy
April Kihlstrom - The Soldier's Bride

Please leave a comment telling us which is favourite traditional regency or if you're new to the genre and we will select the winners on Nov 26. If there's a book you already have do let us know so we can enter you only for the others.

Wow, I haven't read any of those, although I really enjoy Balogh and Layton, who I believe fit the period?? Happy birthday!

Happy Anniversary!
I enjoy finding new Regency authors...and have too many favorites to name.

Happy anniversary!

My very favorite trad Regency is Mary Balogh's Lord Carew's Bride, followed very closely by Edith Layton's The Duke's Wager.

I have the Diane Farr so would appreciate being entered in the drawing for the others. Thanks!

In view of the "fall of the trads" I find myself in the enviable position of having a treasure trove of them. I accumulated them over the years (after I gave up on contemporaries!) and now have (I hope) enough books to last me till I die (I'm 90!). The only book on your list that I am sure I own(ed) is the Farr but I have most of the Lanes and Kihlstroms.

I would love to win any of these books! My favorite regency romance author is Georgette Heyer. I really enjoy Christmas regency romance as well.

My email address is laarlt78(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Thanks!!

Hi and happy anniversary!

Is Georgette Heyer considered a Regency author? At the moment, Venetia is my favourite, closely followed by Sylvester and The Unknown Ajax.

If Heyer does not count, I'd pick Carla Kelly's Wedding Journey....

Someone at BookMooch linked me to this site and I'm so glad she did. It's in my favorites now. This blog is beautifully designed and with the emphasis on traditional regency, matches my own taste. It's good to find other regency readers as I've noticed we often have many other things in common.
I go through about 3 traditional regencies a week - in winter, more - so I'm always looking for books and reviews on books. I almost never buy or mooch a book that has fewer than 4 stars on Amazon
My favorite author is Marion Chesney although I'm not fond of her non regency books (I've read all of her M.C. Beaton books but am not a true fan). I also like Joan Smith. You can tell I like the dry English humor with my romance. My sister is a Heyer and Mansfield fan.
I'm starting a mooch group for Regency Romance Readers (RRR)through the friends link on BookMooch.com if anyone's interested. My name on BookMooch is spring and I believe I can also be reached here. The only stipulation is that you need to be willing to do mooch deals of 2 or 3 books for 1 point - as this saves shipping for the moochee and moves more regencies faster to the moochers.
Happy Anniversary!

Ooops. Once upon a Christmas would be great. I just mooched Miss Timble's Folly. I don't think I've read the Barbarian Earl.
